The Next Move

14 March, 2005 - 3:41 pm

My green thumbs are itchy but there will be no vegetable garden this year.

I knew that would probably be the case but the decision was taken out of our hands completely this weekend. We found out, through a third party, that the landlord has decided to sell this house. Which means we either have to buy it, or move out.

We discussed it yesterday afternoon and decided that we are going to move out. There are just too many issues to face with this house. The asking price would have to be pretty reasonable for us to reconsider.

With any luck at all we will be able to stay in Our Town. I love it here and I don’t want to move. Besides, I just applied for a job with the Town. But we’ll take it one step at a time, as we take everything. There is a piece of property up on the Hill that’s for sale. It has possibilities and disadvantages. The spring thaw should bring out some For Sale signs. And so we will see.

We’ve had two days of thaw. The temperatures have be in the mid thirties. With the sunlight that is warm enough to thaw the road to a sticky muck. Worse to drive on than ice. My path over the snowdrift to the chicken coop gave way under my boot yesterday and I ended up in snow up past my knee. And there is a medium sized pond at the foot of the driveway. When I got home from town this afternoon the air smelled like watermelons. Mud-season is upon us.
