Love That Snow

22 February, 2005 - 11:28 pm

I love snow. I really do. It’s one of the reasons I wanted to move to Vermont. One of the reasons I never want to leave. I love snow.
My favorite book when I was a child was “A Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats.

I love the smell of the air when the snow storm is coming.

I love watching it fall and the hushed tizzle of the flakes hitting the ground.

I love snow days. Even on my wedding day.

I love the way trees look like sculptures of themselves when the snow sticks to their branches.

I love the smooth white comforter of new powder on the expanse of the yard. I loathe to disturb anything so beautifully perfect.

I even love shoveling the driveway. I like the exercise and cold on my face and the depth of the blue sky.

The wonder of snowflakes.

The tiny little tracks left by mice and raccoons; and the bigger tracks left by my girls.

Snowmen.

And today….

I woke up this morning and looked out the window at yet two more inches of fresh powder and just thought – oh no, not again.

I’m officially sick of the fucking snow.

Ahem.

Then I went into Jo-Ann Fabrics and saw all that lovely Spring stuff…

I got a long wait.
