18 January, 2005 - 3:25 pm The same weather system that dumped all that rain in the western parts of the country was responsible for stalling the cold air over Montana and the Dakotas. Well, the system finally moved and the cold has set in here with a vengeance. It was –14 when I started my car today. I have to apologize to D for this one. I didn’t believe him when he said there would be as much as a 15 degree difference between his Jeep, parked in the yard, and my car parked in the garage. When I turned the key the thermometer said zero. I pulled out of the garage and parked in the driveway to let it warm up. When I came back out of the house with my coffee and the kids the thermometer said –14. I hate it when he’s right. Especially because I teased him so hard about it at the time. As in: "Well if it's fifteen degrees warmer in the garage then it must be, like, 30 degrees warmer in the car in the garage. I will never be cold again." Yes, I can be just that charming. I have to tell you though. When it below zero – it doesn’t really matter how many degrees you are talking about. It’s just fucking cold When I returned from picking H up at school it was 37 in the family room. Needless to say I built a fire immediately. It’s warm and cozy in here right now. D will be here in a couple hours and I’ll venture into the kitchen for short spurts to make dinner and then we’ll eat out here. If I can just shake this headache I think my evening will be wrapping up quite perfectly. |
