CrossRoads Farm

I Missed My Cue

12 January, 2005 - 4:09 pm

Yesterday afternoon H and I went for a walk. Generally we walk up the hill and take a left down the road where we are soon surrounded by trees. As we headed up the hill H was chattering away like a little squirrel, commenting on the road and the run-off and the snow. About halfway up she said, ‘I think we should not talk for a while and just listen to the nature.”
“Ok.”
A few steps later and she said, “Ok, well maybe a little talking would be good.”
“All right,” I replied, expecting her to launch into the constant babbling that only a 6 year can master.
”This is where you ask me, ‘How was school today?’”
”Oh, sorry Honey. How was school today?”
”Well….”

She went on for 10 minutes and barely took a breath.
