Have a Cool Yule

21 December, 2004 - 4:16 pm

It was minus 13 this morning. D had to take the car to work, leaving me stranded. The bus was almost an hour late and I had to get a friend to pick h up from school.

Our Solstice festivities are under way. We made a garland of food for the birds and I hung it out on the big birch tree. I had no company. The chickies refused to go out in the cold with me. So I said a little prayer to the Lady by myself while I tied the blue yarn on the white limbs.

The grirls won’t be back to school until the third. By then I should need a vacation from them.

Although almost all the presents are wrapped we will wait until Christmas and my parents arrival to open them.

Tomorrow I’m making coffee rings to give as presents. And I am still waiting for a few packages to arrive but other than that I think I’ve got the whole celebration under control.

I’ll be giving the girls their baths in a bit and then we will make a Solstice garland to hang in the kitchen. Paper apples with favorite memories written on them and Spirals with wishes and prayers.

Now is the solstice of the year,
winter is the glad song that you hear.
Seven maids move in seven time.
Have the lads up ready in a line.

Ring out these bells.
Ring out, ring solstice bells.
Ring solstice bells.

Join together beneath the mistletoe.
by the holy oak whereon it grows.
Seven druids dance in seven time.
Sing the song the bells call, loudly chiming.

Ring out these bells.
Ring out, ring solstice bells.

Ring solstice bells.

Praise be to the distant sister sun,
joyful as the silver planets run.
Seven maids move in seven time.
Sing the song the bells call, loudly chiming.

Ring out those bells.
Ring out, ring solstice bells.
Ring solstice bells.
Ring on, ring out.
Ring on, ring out.
