08 December, 2004 - 11:35 am It’s amazing to me how busy I have been. When I started this journal I posted nearly everyday. Now I’m way too busy. Just last night D asked me which I’d rather – blog, or be too bust to blog. I answered busy but it seems like I’m doing and awful lot of housework lately. Then he complimented me on how the house looks lately so at least the housework is getting somewhere. Usually I feel like I do housework all day and it doesn’t get any cleaner. I realized today that all the pictures in my photobucket were last winter pictures. I took plenty of pictures this summer and fall but I hadn’t posted any of them. So I took a few minutes this morning to put a bunch in the photo collection. I hope you like what you see. I also figured out how to add one of my new pictures to this page. It is a picture of one of the barn windows, and I think it captures the feel of my page very well. I spent some time this morning clearing the driveway again. There was only about an inch of snow but it was heavy and ice crusted so I used to snow blower to clear it. It was also ‘warm’ out there. Those of you who live in southern climes won’t believe me but 40 degrees is warm. I was overheated by the time I was done. When I came inside at eight o’clock I got myself some coffee, warmed up a corn bag and worked on my term paper. It is almost done now. One more read-through and I will be able to print it and hand it in. It’s an optional paper. The Prof said we didn’t have to hand one in as long as you were happy with your grade. Of course I had already written the first draft when I found this out so there was no reason not to finish it. And I should explain what a corn bag is. Basically it is a pillow loosely filled with dried corn. In this case cracked corn. From what I understand whole corn works better. You take the pillow and stick it in the microwave for 2 or 3 minutes on high. When it’s all toasty warm you use it to warm your hands or feet. Sounds ridiculous, I know. Nellie has several and she almost always has a warm one in her hands. So D got me a bag of cracked corn and I made one for myself. I love it. I hold it here on my lap while I read web sites. This room stays cold because it is a huge room but only has one heat register. So we keep it curtained off from the rest of the house and light a fire in the woodstove out here just before dinner. So during the day the corn bag is definitely the way to go. |
